Sometimes life gets in the way, things that were once important and fun get pushed aside for more important and less fun things.

Sometimes life gets in the way, things that were once important and fun get pushed aside for more important and less fun things.

Over 2 years ago Aron and I decided to take the MK1 to the next level. The weekend after Players 6.0 the car was stripped down to the chassis from the front seats forward and a plan was set. Clean the bay, keep the existing 1.6 8v engine, bolt on some webber 45's and go lower on some 16" RS's.

Then a series of events happened and the MK1 was left in the garage whilst Aron was building the ever evolving MK2 golf and me with my old S2000 and then the Volvo (Bricky).

Now things have settled down its time to finish what we started 2 years ago albeit with a few changes to our original plan.

First things first we needed to find a new home for the car, somewhere closer to where the build would take place. After pulling a few strings, a new location was decided upon and the moving date was set. Even in the poor state the car is in at the moment, it still brought a smile to our faces when we opened up the garage. Memories and good times came flooding back from ED38, Players and Westside. The good feelings were then put on hold, when we noticed that we had left the handbrake on....

A good tug and a wiggle, the shoes released and we loaded her onto the trailer not forgetting to wipe the slightly mouldy steering wheel.

After a short journey we were at the Mk1's new home. With excitement setting in we pushed her off the trailer and quickly into the new digs, just before the rain set in. Now the real planning can get started and the purchase of all those new shiny parts.

Finally we would like to thank John for giving up his day to help us finally tow and move the MK1 to its new home. Keep your eyes peeled for regular build updates on here, our Facebook and Instagram.
