So, what actually is Edition 38?
Well, Edition 38 is a group of hardcore Volkswagen lovers from the UK. These guys have been into VW’s since before most of us were born. They might have grey hairs, but they certainly know their way around air and water-cooled VW’s and have been at the helm of more car shows than we've had hot dinners.
The E38 event.
The weekend Edition 38 event, their flagship, is hosted at Overstone Park in Northampton is a 3 day modified car show. E38 is all about cars, campsites and many, many cans. Some people will tell you this event isn’t even about the cars anymore and that Edition 38 is simply just an excuse to spend the weekend with mates, washing down BBQ’d burgers with beer, among other antics...
Show & Shine.
Whilst this show is a decent camping weekend away with the lads, E38 is never short of quality metal on their show field.
The Edition 38 "show and shine" is always a big part of this event, as it differentiates serious show cars from those just chilling in the campsite. Pay an extra fiver and you can be in the running for a trophy, it's pretty much that simple. You'll have your work cut out though, as the standard of cars on show is always pretty damn high. This is all thanks to the fact that Edition 38 attracts some of the best VW’s from around Europe, which is a welcome sight year-on-year. Like MIVW, this is definitely one of THE shows for Volkswagen fans.
Edition 38 is also one of the best events if you’re after some inspiration for your own VW build, as there are always so many different modification styles on show. Being a weekend event, it's also one of the most sociable, giving everyone a chance to speak with owners face-to-face about their cars.
If it Ain't Broke...
On paper, Edition 38 sticks to the traditional car show formula, but in reality it has evolved into one of the most entertaining weekend shows on the UK calendar. We take a look around this year’s event, three cheers to the E38 crew, roll on 2018 lads…
