March 11, 2017. It’s nine degrees Fahrenheit outside, fresh snow from the day before. What do you do for fun on a weekend in New England?
…Go drifting.
Lock City Drift have been organising events since 2012 in Hartford, Connecticut. They moved to Lime Rock Park for a short time until moving to Thompson Motor Speedway in Thompson, Connecticut. They also use another race track in Canaan, New Hampshire for other events throughout the season.
Lock City Drift...
The Lock City staff are incredibly dedicated to running a smooth event, and it shows. These individuals give drivers as much time as they can on the course to improve their skills and have a great day.
Today was one of the coldest days I have ever had shooting, but it turned into one of the best days I’ve had in a long time. They break up the drivers between three classes: A, B and C. The B and C drivers spent the day alternating on the skid pad and the A drivers had a portion of the road course to themselves for the whole day. I spent my day walking back and forth between the two areas seeing a lot of fantastic driving.
Surprisingly there were a lot of spectators despite the wind chill bringing the temperature close to zero. I can’t wait to go back to another Lock City event when it’s a bit warmer. Many thanks to the event organisers, drivers and spectators for making this a great day.
